Each year LibraryCon welcomes a diverse array of creatives, creators, cosplayers, visual artists, and more as Guest of the event. See below for a breakdown of who’s attending LibraryCon 2024. Our guests will be participating in a variety of Q&A panels and classes. Our list of Guests is always growing, so make sure to check back for more information on who’s attending this year!

Samantha Clark

Samantha M Clark is the award-winning author of THE BOY, THE BOAT, AND THE BEAST and ARROW (both published by Paula Wiseman Books/Simon & Schuster) and AMERICAN HORSE TALES: HOLLYWOOD (Penguin Workshop/Penguin Random House), as well as the GEMSTONE DRAGONS chapter book series (Bloomsbury). Jessica Lee Anderson

Jessica Lee Anderson is an award-winning author of over fifty books for kids including her latest Naomi Nash chapter book series from Capstone/Picture Window Books: Saving Snakes, The Mystery of the Ball Python, The Drama Noodle, and Problems at the Pond. She’s published fiction and nonfiction with publishers such as Scholastic, Milkweed Editions (winner of the Milkweed Prize for Children's Literature), Rourke Educational Media, Heinemann, Pearson, and a variety of magazines including Highlights for Children and Highlights High Five. Jessica graduated from Hollins University with a Master of Arts in Children’s Literature, and she previously taught at St. Edward’s University. She lives near Austin, Texas with her husband, daughter, and toothless rat terrier.

Janet Harvey

Janet Harvey is an award-winning writer of comic books, movies and games. As a comic book creator, she wrote the YALSA finalist Angel City for Oni Press,The Curie Society from MIT Press, and the first adventure of Cassandra Cain in No Man’s Land for DC Comics. As a game writer, she was the staff writer on the DC Universe Online MMORPG. Her feature film debut, A Million Hits, screened at festivals around the world and was distributed by Summer Hill Films.

Her current project is a YA graphic novel being developed in collaboration with Angel City illustrator Megan Levens.

Joe Khachadourian

Joe Khachadourian is a writer, concept creator, and graphic fiction evangelist living in Austin, Texas. Formerly an Executive Editor at MightyVille.com, Joe has contributed to various websites and periodicals over the years, along with a number of comic book anthologies, including IDW Publishing’s Transformers: Mosaic. A recipient of several awards in journalism and play-writing, Joe’s decided to make the dive into the world of creator-owned comics with Identity Stunt and Altered Metal, published by Markosia.

Leticia Urrieta

Leticia Urieta (she/her/hers) is a Tejana writer from Austin, TX. She is a teaching artist in the greater Austin community and is also a freelance writer. Her first comic, Thirteen Origins: Cloudbreak #1, co-created with artist and writer Verena Rodriguez, is out in July 2024 from Scout Comics.

Mari Mancusi

Mari Mancusi is an Emmy award winning former TV news producer and author of more than thirty sci-fi/fantasy books for kids, teens and adults. Her dragon apocalypse series, New Dragon City, is on the 24/25 Texas Bluebonnet State Reading List as well as the Florida Sunshine State reading list. It was also named by Reader's Digest as one of the top 100 children's books for all time. In addition, Mari writes tie-in novels for Disney properties including Frozen and the NYT Bestselling series "Twisted Tales." She has a Nightmare Before Christmas Twisted Tale being released this fall. In addition to writing, Mari is an avid cosplayer, horror fan, and MMORPG gamer. She lives in Austin, Texas with her husband and their young daughter.

P.J. Hoover

P. J. (Tricia) Hoover wanted to be a Jedi, but when that didn't work out, she became an electrical engineer instead. After a fifteen year bout designing computer chips for a living, P. J. started creating worlds of her own. She's the award-winning author of The Hidden Code, and Tut: The Story of My Immortal Life, featuring a fourteen-year-old King Tut who's stuck in middle school. Under the Connor Hoover pseudonym, she is also the author of the popular Pick Your Own Quest series, which are interactive adventures perfect for everyone. When not writing, P. J. loves spending time practicing kung fu, fixing things around the house, and solving Rubik's cubes.

SAM LOTFI is a comic book creator & artist living in Austin, TX. He’s best known for his co-created books MOSELY (Boom! Studios), ALFRED: PAIN in the BUTLER (DC Comics), LAST STOP on the RED LINE (Dark Horse Comics) and TMNT Covers (IDW) as well as other work for DC, IDW, Dynamite, 1First Comics & Antarctic Press. Sam’s artistic contributions include a variety of animated and video game projects, most recently the VR shooter SWARM 1 & 2. When he’s not at the drawing board, Sam enjoys building terrain and painting miniatures for various tabletop RPGs and war games. Victoria Grace Elliott

Victoria Grace Elliott is a queer Southern illustrator and comic artist. Her debut middle grade nonfiction graphic novel, Yummy: A History of Desserts (Random House Graphic) and the stand-alone follow-up, Tasty: A History of Yummy Experiments (Random House Graphic) featured her love of sharing history and interesting facts—as well as sweets! Please Be My Star is a romantic YA retelling of Phantom of the Opera and is coming out from Scholastic/Graphix on September 3rd, 2024. Devin Kraft

Devin is a comic artist originally from Roswell, New Mexico who had the great fortune to live and study in Japan for a year as part of an exchange program with Hosei University.
During that time, he got to study the manga industry first hand, in addition to getting to play with all sorts of nifty Japanese pens.
To date he’s finished 30+ comics as well as various shorts, as well as thousands of pin-up pieces. Currently, je am based in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. He draws at night and writes, directs and edits at White Unicorn Agency during the day.

Mary Bellamy

Mary Bellamy, a licensed illustrator based in Los Angeles, operates her creative hub from her home studio. With a portfolio brimming with iconic franchises such as My Little Pony, Marvel, DC Comics, Ghostbusters, Adventure Time, and Rick and Morty, she has crafted over 5,000 artist trading cards for esteemed companies like Upperdeck, Topps, and Rittenhouse. Through both writing and illustration, her work has been published in over 250 books.

Pioneering her own narratives, she created two enduring series: Faux Facts – The Truth Can Be Strange! and Ah Heck!!, both showcasing strong female protagonists. For the past decade, she's been a fixture at San Diego Comic-Con, showcasing her graphic novels and merchandise. A passionate advocate for women in comics, Mary contributes to panels at trade shows and engages in book signings for notable projects like Womanthology and Girls Drawin' Girls.

Lorian Merriman is an Austinite writer and artist who likes to make free things and put them online. Their debut fantasy graphic novel Maelstrom: A Prince of Evil (May 2024) earned a Kirkus starred review.

Ro Higashi

Ro Higashi is an American manga artist of Filipino ancestry, living in Austin. She is the creator of Half of the Crown, a popular webcomic recently turned graphic novel (Cosmic Lion Productions). She is actively involved in supporting her local community, and has often donated her art or time to organizations such as Pflugerville Pride, Filipino Young Professionals, and is a board member of Asian Season ATX, a local non profit dedicated to uplifting Asian-centered creators.

Star Prichard

TheStarfishface, aka Star, is an artist from central Texas who specializes in comics, illustration, and yelling passionately about her interests. She is most known for her webcomic Castoff, a fantasy-adventure story about a group of magical misfits on the run from their problems (and the fantasy cops). She is also a YouTuber known for making art-related videos, including tutorials, her “Art + Storytime” series, artist alley and convention vlogs, and weekly drawing livestreams. Additionally, she is also the creator of the book How to Webcomic, an illustrated guide designed to help readers of all skill levels navigate the world of making online comics. Pathway Comics

Bryan Douglas is a self-taught illustrator and cartoonist from Houston who is married to Austinite fine artist / arts educator Selah Douglas. Several years into their marriage they formed Pathway Comics and its flagship title, The Dimensionals, with all-ages stories written and drawn by Bryan, with colors by Selah, as well as artistic and story edits. Their kids contribute modeling poses, audience testing, and even story ideas and character concepts from time to time.

Isaiah Broussard

Isaiah Broussard is an independent cartoonist based in Austin, Texas. He creates the all-ages comedy/horror comic “Transyltown” that follows the wacky and creepy adventures of the young vampire Timmy and his slayer best friend Alicia.

Lane Fobbs

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Fobbs has always had a alove for story and creating. Fobbs' post-Texas A&M life included stints writing for TV news stations across the southeast. He officially left that world during COVID to focus on his creative endeavors. What has followed are a library of graphic novels and comics that cover all genres and interests. Fobbs believes that everyone from all walks of life deserves to tell their story. Fobbs lives in Houston, TX with his wife Richaland and their fur baby, Mimi.

Alaina Alviar

M. Sisserson and A. Alviar are a husband and wife creative team based in Central TX. They are the brains behind Circle of Mar, a science fantasy comic book centered around the James-Guerrero family's adventures on the alien world of Mar. Their first issue is available now with the second coming soon!

Mochipandacosplay has been cosplaying for 8 years now and has loved every minute of it. She loves the creativity and expression that cosplay allows, and she’s met so many amazing people through the hobby. Some of her cosplay accomplishments include winning first place in a cosplay contest and being invited to be a guest judge at a convention. She’s always looking for new challenges and opportunities in cosplay, and is also an avid vtuber.

Bradley Spears

TheBlackSpeed is an award-winning cosplayer, content creator, and rapper from Biloxi, Mississippi. He currently resides in Austin, Texas where he has lived for almost 10 years. He is known for producing creative rap videos, streaming hilarious gameplay, and cosplaying some of the most popular characters around such as Frozone, Lucio, and Powerline. Some of his favorite games are Fallout, Bioshock, and Mass Effect. Some of his favorite anime are Death Parade, Paranoia Agent, and My Hero Academia. You can always visit his socials to suggest new music videos he should make, games he should stream, or cosplays he should build.

BobbinVomit is a cosplay team consisting of Hannah and My based out of central Texas. They met over their combined love of Magical Girls, Anime, and Horror movies. It took only one group cosplay together to realize they made a great team! Their costumes mainly focus on sewing techniques as well as historical practices. They love interacting with fellow cosplayers to trade tips and tricks as well as to share our love of fandom together! My has 12 years of sewing experience, having come from a long line of Seamstresses starting with her Great-Great Grandmother. She learned to sew on a 1952 Singer Electro-Matic. Hannah has 6 years of sewing experience, being interested in theater and costuming. She has a Bachelors in Performing Arts with a Minor in Fashion.

Salem (@faerys.or.something) has been cosplaying/attending conventions for 6 years, and has won multiple awards in the past. They mostly cosplay from games and anime, and specialize in makeup and wig styling.

Hayatedoll

Hayatedoll is a Masters-level cosplayer of over 15 years, and they love everything sparkly! Being plus-size, LGBTQ+, and a person of color, Hayatedoll strives to ensure that cosplay is for everyone and takes every chance to provide knowledge to new cosplayers in order to make the community a welcoming place. Their craftsmanship skills span many forms, including sewing and tailoring, detail work that tells a story, and creating skits and stage performances that embody everything about cosplay.

Mando Mercs Costume Club

Mando Mercs Costume Club, founded in 2007, is one of the largest global Star Wars costuming organizations comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans. It encourages members to focus on adding their personal and distinctive creative individuality to their Mandalorian costumes. Kar’ta Beskar is the local Central Texas clan of the Mando Mercs Costume Club and stretches from San Marcos to Waco, College Station to Fort Stockton. Ronin (Jimmy) and CosReza (Rachelle) are Award Winning Cosplayers. They have been cosplaying together since 2016 and stay active in spreading joy while helping the community. Both enjoy making armored costumes, props, 3D printing, and loves to do photography.

Star Garrison

Star Garrison represents Texas within the 501st Legion. The 501st Legion (aka Vader’s Fist) is a worldwide Star Wars fan club celebrating the Star Wars universe using costumes and props, in particular those of the Stormtrooper characters, Imperial forces, and other various “bad guy” characters. The Legion is a volunteer club formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts and giving them a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion’s aims are to celebrate the Star Wars movies through the wearing of costumes, to promote the quality and improvement of costumes and props, and most importantly, to contribute to the local community through charity and volunteer work.

Firespun Alchemy

Firespun Alchemy is a cosplay duo based out of South Texas. Rowan has been cosplaying off and on since the dark ages of the 00s, but only dragged Gabriel into the depths around 2015. Rowan does most of the fabricating and finds the most joy in propmaking, especially finding creative ways to use materials. While they're a little less excited about sewing and wigcraft, they're learning to find the fun there too. They're still fairly new to it all, so it's an adventure! The two have won a few awards, but their primary interest is in geeking out with other cosplayers about costumes and building techniques, because we're all in this community together.

Saber Guild

Saber Guild is the largest not-for-profit, LFL-recognized, costumed lightsaber performance club. Jakku Temple is the Central Texas branch with members throughout the Austin and San Antonio greater areas. We enhance local charity, community, and pop culture event experiences through the use of costumed lightsaber choreography to conduct our Interactive Jedi Experience, stage performances, and photo opportunities. We also raise awareness and donations for charity organizations such as The Texas Lion's Camp, Make-a-Wish, and many more. Our mission is to raise and support Texas charities throughout the Central Texas area through our love of Star Wars.

The Austin Ghostbusters

The Austin Ghostbusters will be at Library Con! The cosplay group will have their equipment on hand to include their Ecto-1F (Ford Flex) and will be taking pictures with attendees for free. They will also be collecting donations for GirlStart, the charity they have been working with that gets young women into STEM and STEAM activities. Find them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Der Glitzkrieg

Der Glitzkrieg is an award-winning cosplayer with over 20 years in the hobby. He started all the way back in 2002 at the age of 14 and has done it all: competed in contests, judged them, and even ran them. His hobby helped his career ambitions, leading him to get a degree from UT Austin in Textiles and Apparel Design. When not cosplaying, he can be found playing video games, cuddling his pets, and bothering his spouse.

Since 2016, Islascosplay has been deeply engaged in the world of cosplay, crafting remarkable costumes with a diverse range of materials, including foam, 3D printing, and advanced painting techniques. Committed to bringing beloved characters to life with exceptional detail, she also finds immense satisfaction in teaching others these techniques, sharing her passion and expertise with the community.

Retro Game Champion

Retro Game Champion is a digital preservation group run by a dude named MadHatter that is dedicated to making sure that all videogames 15 years or older survive for future generations to enjoy, along with their music and printed materials. RGC is back this year to celebrate all of the Sonic mania surrounding the upcoming third movie by letting you try the most bizarre retro Sonic the Hedgehog games at the booth! You can win some vintage, geeky books and even adopt a pixelated Chao!

Game Worlds Summer Camp

Game Worlds is an award-winning STEM education program that turns kids’ passion for playing games into a love of building them! For more than 10 years, we have been teaching students both the artistic and technical aspects of game development, helping them build confidence as coders, storytellers, artists, and musicians. Our program was built from the ground up by real game developers, so our students always receive the most relevant and practical knowledge, and we work with the local game development community to connect students directly with professional developers eager to share their knowledge.

GrapeApe

Matt Robertson, also known as GrapeApe, is representing the roleplaying game company Goodman Games. Matt is the host of the Twitch shows RAW: Rules As Written and GrapeApe's Reaver Express, which can be seen both on YouTube and Twitch under the Goodman Games banner. Matt is the founder of the 3rd party publishing company Split the Party Games and has published the Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC) compatible horror module A Conspiracy of Ravens as well as being a contributing writer and cartographer for multiple publications, the Gongfarmer's Almanac and The Gongfarmer Militia to name a few. Matt can also be found on the DCC fan Discord server DungeonCrawlers where he serves as a moderator and runs DCC and MCC games online. It goes without saying that his favorite color is purple!

Jeff Dee

Jeff has worked in the gaming industry for over 40 years. His artwork has appeared in numerous games and magazines, including TSR's Deities and Demigods (as well as many AD&D modules and other early TSR products), Villains & Vigilantes, adventures for the Star Wars RPG from West End Games, Magic the Gathering, and others. He co-designed Villains & Vigilantes, TWERPS (The World's Easiest Role-Playing System) from Gamescience, and Cavemaster the Stonepunk RPG from UNIgames. Cavemaster won the 2013 Three Castles Design Award at NTRPGCon. Jeff has also worked in the computer games industry on games such as Ultima VI, Master of Orion, Master of Magic, and Wing Commander. He was the art director on Ultima VII, and the lead game designer on The Sims: Castaway Stories. Jeff currently works as a game design consultant, and operates two paper game publishing companies: Monkey House Games with V&V co-creator Jack Herman, and UNIgames with partner Talzhemir Mrr. UNIgames’ latest products are the Kurt Hills Atlas (a campaign setting for Bethorm: the Plane of Tekumel RPG), and the latest from Monkey House is ‘Mighty Protectors’, the 3rd edition of V&V.

The Masters of Unlocking are composed of Matt and Bryan: two big nerds with a penchant for gaming and music. Their repertoire will take you on a musical journey from the deepest coral reefs to the furthest reaches of space and every dimension in between. New games, old games, classics, and obscures. It doesn't matter to them, they appreciate them all.

The Book Burrow

The Book Burrow is an independent bookstore. It isn't owned by a big corporation, so people are its mission. We made it a safe space for all our friends and the friends we haven't met yet. We want them to know that this business has a heart and in Pflugerville, we couldn't say it better than Embrace your Weird.

TexLUG: Austin

TexLUG: Austin is a group of LEGO® fans in the greater Austin area, we host regular meetings and displays. They welcome members of all ages and builders of all skill levels.

The Friends of Pflugerville Library

The Friends of the Pflugerville Library raises funds to support library programs, publicizes library activities, and promotes reading and literacy. They also support the summer reading programs, benefitting the entire community. Membership is open. Check out their event booth for graphic novels and manga.

Staple! Independent Media Expo

Chris "Uncle Staple" Nicholas is the founder and lead organizer of STAPLE! The Independent Media Expo, the premier event in the Southwest for independently created Comics, Zines, Art, Crafts, and Games, held annually in Austin, TX.

Writers' League of Texas

The Writers’ League of Texas (WLT) is the largest literary arts organization in Texas, a statewide nonprofit offering programs and services to writers at all stages of their writing careers, from just getting started to publication and beyond.

Founded in 1981, the organization’s mission is to provide a forum for information, support, and sharing among writers; to help writers improve their craft and understand the business of publishing; to promote the interests of writers from diverse cultural, economic, sexual identity and orientation, ethnic, and religious backgrounds; and to elevate the art and enterprise of writing, including supporting and growing the Texas literary community at large.
